Our Building: Reordering Project
Our Church building has probably been re-ordered dozens of times over the centuries. Each generation has taken these opportunities to respond to the needs of the worshipping community and many of us remember that this was the background to the last time we looked at this issue in 1991/2.
At an Away Day, the PCC spent some time looking at the Worship Space and what worked well and what improvements could be made. The decision was made to appoint a committee to consider the issue in more detail and to recommend ways of enhancing the previous re-ordering and building on the foundations laid to make our Church building even more flexible.
Previous Layout
The previous layout was updated in 1991/2. Prior to this, it was a traditional church layout with Victorian pews and furniture. (One of the original pews now resides under the east window.)

The change in layout was to make the church more practical, comfortable and flexible; to reflect modern worship styles and make the building more useable.
The Project Gets Underway!
On Sunday 6th January 2019 the last service was held in our Grade 2* Listed Building and for the next 12 weeks we were worshipping in the Parish Rooms whilst works to update the previous reordering of 27 years ago were completed.

This exciting development included new underfloor heating, energy efficient LED lighting, an accessible toilet, a digital PA system, television screens and re-carpeting throughout. The font was reinstated in a more traditional position near the main entrance, whilst a movable dais provides flexibility when the building is used outside of regular worship services.
The Finished Result
Work on the re-ordering project was completed in April 2019. The building is now used for Mayor-making, fashion shows, Messy Church, Cafe Church, craft fairs, nativities, school performances, commemoration events and is a very useable community space.
